Our members of the month for November, 2008 are Jim and Mary Walker.
Jim R. Walker was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on December 24, 1943. He attended his first three years of walkerelementary school at Park View Elementary in Holdenville. He also attended John Adams and Star Elementary School in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1962 and attended two years at Central State in Edmond.

Jim has been employed by Sears as a sales associate, worked in the floor covering business and owned an insurance business. He retired from Allstate Insurance Company in 2004. He told me he really enjoyed the insurance business. Jim served in the Oklahoma National Guard.
Mary Louise Thompson Walker was born in Clayton, Oklahoma on August 11, 1926. She attended Prairie View Elementary and graduated from Moore High School in 1943. She attended two years at Oklahoma University.
During her years of employment she has worked for the FBI in the finger print division, as a secretary at Wiley Post Airport and for 13 years was the secretary at Western Oaks Christian Church. She worked with Jim in his insurance business for several years. She is also retired. Mary said working for the FBI was the most enjoyable.
Mary’s favorite food is anything cheese, especially cheddar. She enjoys sewing, crocheting and doing ceramics.
Jim and Mary met at Western Oaks Christian Church. They married on August 3, 1997 at Mustang Christian Church.
Jim and Mary joined Village Christian Church in February, 2001. Jim’s favorite hymns are “He’s Still Working on Me” and “In the Garden”. Mary likes  ”How Great Thou Art”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Shall We Gather at the River”. Mary has been a deacon and has been on several committees. Jim has been a deacon, elder, board representative and on numerous committees.
Jim enjoys gardening and woodworking. His very favorite food is Fried Chicken but he also likes Mexican food. Jim and Mary both enjoy going to Abuelo’s. They both like to travel. They like to just get in the car and see where it takes them.
Jim has one daughter, Nicole Good, and one step-son, Todd Summers.
He also has one granddaughter, Kamryn Good and one grandson, Britt Summers.
When asked “What is a lesson that life has taught you?” Jim replied “God is in Control” and Mary’s reply was “Look before you leap”.
